PERAVIA. El Juzgado de la Instrucción de este departamento judicial, mediante la aplicación del procedimiento penal abreviado, impuso una condena de cinco años de prisión, de ellos 10 meses en prisión y cuatro años y dos meses de prisión suspendida, contra el dirigente juvenil Van Troy Suazo Castillo, quien se encuentra en prisión desde el pasado mes de febrero luego que fuera acusado de agredir a su pareja.
La información destaca que a pesar de que el Código Penal Dominicano establece una condena de un año de prisión para los casos regulares de golpes, por las particularidades de este caso y a solicitud del Ministerio Público, el tribunal impuso a Suazo Castillo la referida condena de cinco años de prisión, la realización de labores sociales en beneficio de la comunidad, recibir terapias en el Centro de Intervención Conductual para Hombres del Distrito Nacional, no portar armas y abstenerse al consumo de bebidas alcohólicas.
El tribunal adoptó la decisión mediante un acuerdo pleno para penal abreviado entre el Ministerio Público, Van Troy Suazo Castillo y su pareja, quien había retirado la demanda que había interpuesto contra el dirigente juvenil por violencia de género.
Se destaca que el juicio penal abreviado asegura una sentencia definitiva y que en caso de incumplimiento de la misma, el condenado deberá completar la prisión en la cárcel, inclusive, hasta por una falta injustificada a las terapias que debe recibir en dicho centro de intervención conductual, sin que ello conlleve la realización de otro juicio.
La información precisa que a pesar de que la víctima retiró los cargos en este caso, el Ministerio Público continuó con el proceso judicial contra el dirigente juvenil Suazo Castillo hasta lograr la imposición de la sentencia condenatoria.
El órgano acusador pidió que a Suazo Castillo les fueran impuestos cinco años de prisión correccional por violar los artículos 309-2, 309-3, literales C, D, E y 332 del Código Penal Dominicano, modificados por la Ley No. 24-97 sobre Violencia de Género e Intrafamiliar.
En la acusación además de la prisión correccional, el Ministerio Público también solicitó al tribunal emitir una orden de protección a favor de la víctima, y que el condenado se dedique a una labor social en entidades como la Cruz Roja, el Cuerpo de Bomberos o la Defensa Civil.
