Seúl. EFE. La policía surcoreana confirmó este lunes el hallazgo del cadáver de la joven actriz y cantante de K-Pop conocida como Sulli e informó de que la mujer, que había sufrido intensas campañas de ciberacoso, podría haberse suicidado.
El cuerpo de la artista, de tan solo 25 años y cuyo verdadero nombre era Cho Jin-ri, fue encontrado por su agente en la casa en la que residía en Seognam, ciudad dormitorio al sur de la capital surcoreana.
Aún se están investigando las causas de la muerte, aunque se cree muy probable que Sulli haya podido suicidarse, según explicaron representantes policiales en declaraciones que recoge la agencia Yonhap.
Nacida en Busan (sureste del país), Sulli debutó como actriz en televisión en 2005 cuando solo tenía 11 años y en 2009 comenzó su carrera musical al unirse a la formación femenina f(x).
Entre 2014 y 2015 se retiró de la vida pública debido a unas intensas campañas de acoso en redes sociales que coincidieron con el comienzo de su relación con el cantante Choiza (cuyo verdadero nombre es Choi Jae-hoo), de Dynamic duo, con quien rompería en 2017.
Sulli acabaría dejando definitivamente f(x) en 2015 y continuó trabajando esporádicamente como actriz en películas como «Real» (2017) o, más recientemente, en series televisivas como «Hotel Del Luna».
El pasado verano comenzó a copresentar para el canal por cable JTBC un programa centrado precisamente en el ciberacoso que sufren los artistas surcoreanos.
En el programa, Sulli habló, entre otras cosas, de las campañas de odio recientes de las que volvió a ser víctima por aparecer en varias fotografías sin usar sujetador.
La artista dijo que decidió seguir posando así por un tema de comodidad personal y para terminar con el prejuicio en la conservadora Corea del Sur hacia las mujeres que deciden no usar sostén.
La muerte de Sulli vuelve a poner de relieve la enorme presión a la que se enfrentan las celebridades del K-Pop y los pocos recursos a su disposición para encarar estas situaciones.
El último caso de suicidio que sacudió los cimientos de la industria fue el de Kim Jong-hyun, excantante del grupo SHINee, que se quitó la vida en diciembre de 2017 cuando contaba con 27 años.
