El merengue y la bachata viven un resurgir por el hecho de que artistas de la nueva generación se están interesando por ambos géneros, dijo el cantautor Juan Luis Guerra la tarde de este miércoles al participar como invitado especial en “Preguntas y respuestas con una leyenda” (”The Legend Q&A”), durante la edición de este año de la Semana de la Música Latina de Billboard.
“Siento un resurgir del merengue y la bachata, el mismo hecho de que generaciones nuevas se estén interesando por ambos ritmos, como es el caso de Vicente (García) que están haciendo merengue y muy bueno, así mismo surgirán muchos otros, dominicanos y de otras nacionalidades”, destacó Guerra ante una sala abarrotada de prensa, artistas y productores.
De esta manera respondió Guerra a la pregunta hecha por el productor dominicano Alberto Zayas, durante el encuentro que fue moderado por Leila Cobos, vicepresidenta y directora de Industria Musical Latina de Billboard.
El intérprete de “El costo de la vida”, recibirá esta noche el Premio Billboard Trayectoria Artística, por sus 35 años de carrera, tiempo durante el cual se ha destacado como productor, cantante, compositor y músico.
Guitarrista, cantante, compositor, arreglista , Guerra ha colocado 42 temas en la lista de canciones latinas más populares (Hot Latin Songs) de Billboard, seis números 1 en la lista de principales álbumes latinos (Top Latin Albums) de Billboard, 11 temas entre los 10 más populares y tres álbumes número 1.
Premios Billboard 2019 se llevará a cabo desde el Mandalay Bay Events Center de Las Vegas, con una gala que será transmitida por Telemundo, y para República Dominicana, por Teleantillas, canal 2.
